Google Calculator
I was going to write an overview about the new calculator feature of Google when I found Fun with the Google Calculator from kuro5hin.org. Excellent sample of its powers. But a quick summary of Nifty(tm) features that I like:
* It supports imaginary numbers
* It has constants like Avogadro's Number
* It does conversion factors
* It even knows the answer to life the universe and everything
In side news relating to Google, apparently blogs are taking over Google and are replacing more authoritative and reference-type articles. Google uses PageRank technology as a major way of determining how high a webpage should appear on a search. Bloggers link everywhere, but especially to each other. In FallenEarth, it is not so apparent but things like TrackBack are used much more elsewhere. As a result, Google may be giving blogs its own tab. I'd rather they didn't, personally. It makes serendipidous discovery of blogs that much harder.
If you search for FallenEarth, the blogs page pops up as first. A comment I made in another blog even appears on the first page. We're even considered press coverage by The Lloyd Dobler Effect; they cite FallenEarth.org Blog and link to Knutaf's commentary. If you search for your own blog title, it's likely to pop up as first.
Congratulations, we are a force on the web!

Woo hoo! I'm part of a web-force! Yay!
Shigs, who lurks other blogs that have also noticed this phenomenon.
